Community,
I am so excited to share that applications for the Brava Leadership Institute's 2027 cohort are officially open!
BLI is a year-long program for leaders navigating power, conflict, and change inside multiracial, multicultural institutions. BLI is not a typical leadership training.
Across a year of facilitated sessions, peer learning, and hands-on experimentation, you’ll learn alongside a cohort of 25 leaders from across the country. Together you’ll practice recognizing and analyzing power and how it informs patterns you may have inherited, making and communicating hard decisions, and leading in ways that sustain your people, your mission, and yourself. This community of practice is a curated set of leaders who understand the stakes of this work and they will tell you the truth with love.
I’ll say this as someone who’s lived inside this work: BLI is the heart of what we do at Brava. It’s changed how I lead. I find myself thinking deeply about how power is moving in every room I’m in, and where I can share it more intentionally. And our alumni keep doing great things. Being part of that community is a gift unlike any other opportunity I’ve had in my career.
A few things to know:
Applications close December 1, 2026. The form asks you to reflect, not perform. There are no right answers, and it takes 30-45 minutes, so give yourself the time and space to reflect deeply.
We will gather in person to kickoff the program in Los Angeles, CA.
Tuition operates on a sliding scale from $2,500 to the full cost of $12,000, thanks to the generous support from the Marguerite Casey Foundation. Cost should never be the reason a leader misses this experience, so if you’re interested in applying please let us know if cost is a barrier in any way!
APPLY NOW
Do you know a leader who's carrying this work? We'd love for you to nominate them. Most of our strongest applicants first heard about BLI because someone shared their name with us!
